
KURT RITTERPUSCH

Coach Kurt Ritterpusch brings over four decades of elite wrestling experience to Parker’s Wrestling Club. From youth wrestling to NCAA Division I competition, he has built an impressive career as both an accomplished athlete and dedicated coach.
As a youth wrestler, Coach Ritterpusch was a 4-time Illinois Kids State Freestyle Champion and earned 3rd Place at the Illinois Folkstyle State Championships in 8th grade. He continued to excel on the national stage, capturing a Bronze Medal at the 1982 Grand Nationals Freestyle Championships in Lincoln, Nebraska, followed by a Gold Medal at the 1983 Grand Nationals Greco-Roman Championships in Indianapolis.

During his high school career, Coach Ritterpusch earned numerous honors, including Virginia Freestyle State Champion, Virginia Greco-Roman State Champion, Beach District Champion, Northern District Runner-Up, Northern Region Third Place, South Region Runner-Up, VHSL State Third Place, and was an Eastern Region Cadet Championship Finalist. He also represented Team Virginia in the prestigious Pittsburgh Press Classic and served as Virginia’s representative at the National Freestyle Championships.
In 1987, Coach Ritterpusch became the National Prep Wrestling Champion at 149 pounds while competing for the nationally renowned Blair Academy, one of the country’s premier wrestling programs.

He went on to compete as a 4-year NCAA Division I wrestler for Old Dominion University and American University, compiling an outstanding 83-24 collegiate record. During his college career, he claimed championships at both the 1991 JMU Invitational and the 1991 Millersville Invitational.

Beyond competition, Coach Ritterpusch has devoted years to developing wrestlers as both an instructor and mentor. He served on the staff of the renowned Granby School of Wrestling and later became a Granby System Counselor, helping athletes refine the technical skills and discipline needed for success at every level.
In addition to his wrestling accomplishments, Coach Ritterpusch earned his Black Belt in Judo through the South Korea Judo Association in 2019, bringing a diverse background in grappling and martial arts to his coaching philosophy.

Today, Coach Ritterpusch is proud to share his wealth of knowledge with athletes at Parker’s Wrestling Club. His passion for teaching, technical expertise, and lifelong dedication to the sport help wrestlers of all ages develop confidence, discipline, and championship-level skills both on and off the mat.
